PSAS 2000 - a new generation power system analysis software
The PSAS 2000 software package is an major upgrade of the software product PSAS v3.1 which has been on the market since 1998. A large number of significant enhancements and new features have been incorporated in PSAS 2000. These include various improvements based upon feedback from current PSAS users. PSAS 2000 now offers four different package options (PSAS 2000.x8, PSAS 2000.9k, PSAS 2000.3k, PSAS 2000.3o) to suit different users and their requirements. Click here for a few typical applications of PSAS 2000.
The standard PSAS 2000 package incorporated the following features:
Power flow study using sparsity
technique and Newton-Rapson method
User-designed single line diagram
with data and results displayed in the diagram
Symmetrical and unsymmetrical
fault
Continency assessment of the
power system
Transient stability simulation
and critical fault clearance time assessment
Some improved features of PSAS 2000 are highlighed below:
System maximum capability is 18000 buses, 6000 generators,
22000 lines and 8000 transformers
Loads, reactive compensation and generation can be readily adjusted for
selected substations
Record the history of power and voltage mismatches
during load flow iterations
Model two terminal DC transmission lines
Model fixed impedance shunt active and reactive
loads and phase shift transformers
Model the impacts of power transactions on circuit
flow capacity under open transmission access regime
Calculate loss factors and nodal price in open market power systems
Model the saturation effect of generators in stability
study
User defined AVR, SVC and governor control blocks
in stability studies
Generators modelled by transient or subtransient equations in both D and
Q axis
Automatic study of the open circuit step response
of the generator excitation system
Plotting of R-X impedance locus seen by distance
relays in stability studies
Automatic plotting of AVR. SVC and Governor control
blocks in stability studies
Display of 3 phase fault level and infeed in single
line diagram
Penalty factor calculation for economic dispatch
application
Converts IEEE standard data and PSS/E raw data to PSAS study model
Standard IEEE models provided
for the governor, turbine and exciters in stability study
Dynamic modelling of doubly fed wind generators
